Starting your iPod interface
Connecting & disconnecting
The procedures for connecting and disconnecting your iPod or iPod mini to your interface are described in this section of the owner’s manual. Please follow these instructions to avoid connectivity problems.
Turn your BMW radio ON before connecting your iPod or iPod mini. Turn your BMW radio OFF before disconnecting. Following this pattern helps avoid possible synchronization errors.
Connecting to the interface
After connection, the iPod or iPod mini takes a few moments to change to external control mode. The display will then show A symbol may be displayed next to the battery indicator, showing your iPod or iPod mini is being charged. After the display shows the iPod is in external control mode, you will now be able to select iPod mode.
